Meet The Team: Steven Watson, Territory Chemical Sales Manager

Steven Watson recently joined Howco as Territory Chemical Sales Manager in the Mid-Atlantic region. He is based in western Pennsylvania and serves multiple states in his territory.

Steven became a Howco team member after a dozen years as a crew member and manager for a major national car wash chain. The 34-year-old Charlotte, NC, native moved to the Pittsburgh area and began his Howco duties in March 2022.

Working in the car wash industry blends ideally with Steven’s affinity for all things mechanical and motorized, with a particular affection for automobiles and aviation. In Charlotte, he attended Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology for high school before studying Mechanical Engineering/Design at Central Piedmont Community College.

Steven quickly discovered that the structure and culture gleaned from working with a large car wash chain translated perfectly into his Howco role of advising and steering clients new to the industry and seeking guidance on running, maintaining, and growing their wash companies.

Steven’s knowledge regarding car wash operating procedures, employee development, and equipment intricacies provides him first-hand experience and wisdom to share with his clients when needed. He views that as a very helpful ace-in-the-hole for Howco and its customers.

“I’m really excited by the transition to car wash supplier at this point in my career, especially in view of the incredible explosion of the car wash industry on all fronts,” said Steven. “I have found Howco’s presence in our industry to be unique and needed, because we don’t require contracts that pigeonhole operators into a certain number of years, car volume, or amount of chemicals used. Howco is structured as a team member in our customers’ operations whereby we benefit when they are successful. We want to help create their success and remain a part of it.”

“I have the flexibility and autonomy to spend as much time as necessary and desired at our customers’ businesses to help get them where they want to be,” continued Steven. “Having studied and run successful stores, I can observe other washes and offer advice about chemicals, equipment, lighting, signage, procedures, training, and more. It’s a huge advantage that our clients and I enjoy. It really sets Howco apart.”

When not helping to supply, improve, and expand customers’ car washes, Steven enjoys target shooting sports, particularly trap shooting. He is also a racing fan, because… well, motors are involved.
